Union Station

I made this piece using one point perspective and shading, to display this beautiful archway at the Union Train Station in Toronto. I made two different versions using natural lighting and shading. Both versions are great, but I chose to display this one, the light version because I like the way the natural lighting looks. I created this while studying The Art and Design Foundation program at George Brown College for drawing class.

DADDY & ME

I began my studies in art at CEGEP (Quebec public college to help specialize in a skillset). This is one of my first pieces I drew there. This portrait is a pencil crayon drawing of my Daddy and me I made from a picture of us in our younger years. We are sitting on a swing bench, visiting friends at a cottage. I love this photo not only because its a great picture but because my Dad means a lot to me. He has been an integral part of my upbringing and I love his sense humour. I enjoy making portraits and capturing people in the moment. I believe this piece of art captures the essence of the joy we get from our relationship! My Dad and me always enjoy our time together.

Tradgedy Ann

I made this beautiful portrait of Tragedy Ann, a folk music band that I really enjoy listening to.

I was inspired to create this piece after they performed a concert at our place, for our friends and family. I like that their music is different from mainstream music and what I regularly listen to. I thought they were such a lovely couple after meeting them so I asked if I could create a digital portrait of them from a photograph. I make digital portraits using Procreate app, tracing the outline, adding in the fine details, and colouring it in using the appropriate tools to best suite the photo. It is fun creating different digital photos of others and seeing the joy brought to their faces when they receive it. I would highly recommend listening to Tragedy Ann and watching them live when you get the chance! It was a fantastic show!

Cozy Fire

This is a beautiful cozy fire place at my family cottage that I like to relax by. It is my favorite place in the cottage so I decided to capture how cozy and warm it is. This is a photograph that I took and then using the pro-create art application I traced the outline of the picture to use as a frame. Then while referencing the original photo I can re-create the colours with the tools I desire. While colouring in the walls and fire, I chose to use the different shades to represent the sunlight shining in the room and flames burning. It makes it look very cozy and inviting! Don’t you just want to curl up and stay warm by the cozy fire.

Elizabeth

This piece is properly named “Elizabeth”. It was a photograph I took of my Friend sitting on our dock at the cottage. I made three variations of this piece to show the work, to get to the final product. The photograph is an original taken by myself on a windy summer afternoon. Then using the Procreate app, I traced the original photo to make a black and white line drawing. This is my favourite way of creating art. This piece I took further to complete it as a coloured version. I really enjoy making line drawings and adding colour and textures to make the piece stand out. After I digitized it by tracing all the details in the picture I wanted in the new art piece I was able to add colour through strokes and different textures to bring it to life so it looks more realistic. I choose to create art of the things that make me happy and bring it to life for others. I want people to feel good when they see my work. I am spreading joy through art and colour.

The odd one out

While I was working at a food co-op strolling down the aisle this little tomato jumped out to me as the odd one out…. it is like a mini watermelon, turns out they are called chocolate striped tomatoes! So I thought, I need a picture of this! I particularly liked how it was sitting amongst all the red tomatoes because it made that one tomato stand out!

Chrissy

This is a gift I made for a dear friend Chrissy, which captures her in her element. She is a hard working and determined woman. I made this gift for her because I wanted her to feel special, which she is. I made this art piece by starting with tracing a larger version of the original photo. Using stippling pens the outline was created and details added. Then using different stippling techniques, the shadows and textures were created, making it look 3D. I like to make pieces of art that are personal because its fun, people admire it and are thankful for it. I like making people feel good through my art and it makes me feel happy knowing that they are happy!

Be Hot Yoga

This amazing painting was inspired by the lotus flower in the logo of my favorite yoga studio in downtown Toronto, Be Hot Yoga. It was gifted to them for their studio as a thank you for all they do! I picked colors that reminded me of being calm and relaxed. This common advanced yoga pose is called the “dancers pose”. I picked this pose because it’s most universally known in yoga and then I made a mirror image to create symmetry. I had them meet in the middle and connect hands to represent the power of working together and the sense of community I felt at this studio. I really enjoy doing yoga and it is something I practice weekly! I like yoga because it helps me relax and de-stress. I feel refreshed and more flexible after every session. I made this painting by tracing each item, starting with the yogis in dancer pose, then the lotus flower, then chose my favorite relaxing acrylic paint colors to complete the piece.

Heather

While I was studying in my photography class at George Brown we played with lighting in the studio and experimented with different angles and positioning of the lighting. When we do this it creates shadows and different effects that can completely change the picture. We were also directed by the professor to try different seated positions and camera angles, when you adjust one of the items it can create an entirely different picture and feeling. This photo is a seated picture with the light above and on 45 degree angle. I enjoy doing photography and capturing people at their best moments!

Me and Lola

This is a painting I completed when I was at Centennial College for one of my art classes of my first dog Lola and me. I love small dogs and she was an excellent companion! This is an original creation of the two of us I came up with for an assignment that I had. It has been a long time since I created this and enjoy it so much I hung it in my condo! I really enjoyed making it and it brings back good memories of Lola and I when I see it. We used water colour pencils and more to help make the shading and make it look more 3D and texturized.

When Imagination Comes To Life.

This is a mixed media project I made for one of my art classes at George Brown. I love this piece and think it is very artsy and creative! It is like a book coming to life, like our imagination comes to life when we read a book! I am little bit of a book worm and love reading! My favorite types of books are mysteries because it makes you feel like your in the book! My favourite author to read is Agatha Christie because she keeps you intrigued by constantly misleading you to the culprit and thus must read on to discover the truth! Just let your imagination run wild!

Sunset Boat Ride

This is a picture of the most beautiful sunset I took while out on an evening boat ride at my family cottage. It captures the beautiful boat, calm lake and incredible skyline with cotton candy clouds. I like boat rides because they can be fun and relaxing. It is nice to be out on the water, and I love summer times for this reason. I like to capture nature and its natural beauty whenever possible and this is one of my favourite photos I took. I know, I know it looks photo shopped and it is 100% natural, no filters required, nature does that all on her own!
